Race For The Rescues 2020

This year, much has changed in the world, but Downtown Dog Rescue has continued to rescue dogs and help those in need...which is why we are racing "virtually" this year and hope you'll join and fundraise for our team!

Our 2020 team mascot is 10yo KANE, who we rescued from Downey shelter, where he was surrendered with a large tumor on his lip. We took a chance on this sweet boy, hoping that tests would reveal a positive prognosis; unfortunately, he has inoperable lymphoma and we don't know how much time he has left with us. We've started him on chemotherapy treatment and are hoping that he responds well. Based on his energy and spirit, you'd never guess he was sick and we're pretty sure he'd be ecstatic if you joined our team! Click to see video of him in action.

We're also racing to help people and their pets at our new PET SUPPORT SPACE which was born out of Covid-19. When we were no longer able to operate our Shelter Intervention Program from South LA Shelter, our clients still needed help, so now we have a dedicated space which is open 6 days a week to help pets and people with financial assistance for medical treatment, food, spay/neuter, and legal help. In one month we've helped more than 150 pet owners!

YOU can help us reach our fundraising goal and help rescue more dog and help more people by

  1. JOINING OUR TEAM & SETTING YOUR PERSONAL FUNDRAISING GOAL AT $500 OR MORE.  We appreciate the support of joining our team but it's only when you raise funds that we reach our goal, or

  2. DONATE to our team fundraising page or to one of Downtown Dog Rescue's team participants' fundraising page.

We know these are difficult times for many people and appreciate all of your support no matter how big or small. We hope to "see you" at the race!!

In solidarity,

Kane and the Downtown Dog Rescue Team
